Sitting alongside the Festival of Imagineers is Bridge, an ambitious art and engineering project that will lead to the creation of an iconic bridge structure. Bridge is an outdoor arts project that lies at the intersection of art, engineering and social change. The project will culminate in 2020 with three major outdoor arts events in Coventry, Worcester and Grantham.
Imagineer is collaborating with exceptional artists and civil engineers Arup on the realisation of Bridge.
Bridge will be launched at Coventry Cathedral during the Festival of Imagineers in September 2018 and forms part of 100th anniversary of Coventry Cathedral and Diocese.
Bridge is supported by Arts Council England through its Ambition for Excellence programme.
Peter Knott, Area Director of Arts Council England said: “As Coventry prepares to become City of Culture 2021, Bridge is a significant marker for what promises to be an outstanding programme of work. Funded by the National Lottery through Ambition for Excellence, this fund helps amazing things happen. Imagineer is a company with pedigree, and this large-scale outdoor spectacle will involve more and more people in the positivity that great art can bring.”
Imagineer also receives a grant from The Garfield Weston Foundation for Bridge.
