‘An unforgettable dramatisation of war’ The Observer

As Imagineer celebrate twenty years of working with inspirational outdoor arts company Teatr Biuro Podrozy and the UK marks the centenary of World War One, Festival of Imagineers presents Carmen Funebre, Teatr Biuro Podrozy’s most iconic performance which has toured to almost 50 countries worldwide, receiving the Fringe First and Critics’ Award at the Edinburgh Festival.

Based on the company’s research with refugees from the former Yugoslavia during the brutal Bosnian conflict in the 1990s as well as other outbreaks of nationalism and intolerance, Carmen Funebre is a visceral and brutal expose of the horrors of war.

Stilts, fire, searchlights, spectacular sets and bone-chilling music combine with arresting visual imagery to evoke both fear and compassion.

‘The Polish company's reaction to the insanity of the war in Bosnia was one of the most compelling pieces of theatre l have ever seen’ Stephen Berkoff

‘Upsetting, beautiful and completely unmissable’ The Independent
